5/28/03 Nick Barrel: I noticed that there is no dust shield on the transmission. I've seen other cars without them, but should I be worried about this?

2/27/06 DavidWalker:  I have no idea why it took almost 3 years to answer this question.  I'm guessing it's not an urgent necessity to use the dust cover.  Seeing the gears out there exposed to the elements is somewhat disconcerting, but i drove mine like that for years.  I purchased an aftermarket cover and it scertainly dresses the transmission up.  I'd recommend it.
