06/02/03/03 Joe: After the car warms up the idle is lower but if I had to panic stop, the car won't. No I did not replace the booster, I didn't here any air leaking. As for bleeding the brakes I did not do that but I have a hard pedal and they do not pump up. Do you think I should try bleeding the brakes? Another thought was to replace the front right and left rubber hoses that connect to the back of the drums ? |

06/02/03 George: I had identical problem when I did my brakes. I replaced everything from wheel cylinders to hardware to shoes and drums. Had drums turned bare min. to be sure they were round even though they were new ones. Helps the shoes seat better. Bleed the farthest wheel first and worked way back to the closest. The pedal was rock hard better than ever. The car would not stop without standing on the pedal. I had plenty of vacuum but the POWER BOOSTER was not working properly. A friend at brake shop diagnosed it for me. Got a new powers booster and they work great. |

06/02/03 John: I think you should check your power brake booster.....its very easy once you know how With the car engine shut off, pump the brake pedal 5 or 6 times to expell the air in the brake booster Keeping the brake pedal depressed, start the engine. You should feel the brake pedal drop about 1/2 inch. If it doesnt then there is probably something wrong with it. Just because there isnt any air leaking doesnt mean there isnt anything wrong with it. . There are valves inside that can and will go bad |
