Brakes Q & A

Donnie Ripley: I hopefully this summer want to convert my single piston master cylinder to the (more safer) dual piston master cylinder. Now can I go to my local UAP and order a '67 dual piston master cylinder and it will directly bolt on to my '66 bracket? Or whats involved in converting? I would get a new m.c. and have my mechanic put it on, new proportioning valve, and new lines. Is this all I need to convert my '66 to '67 brakes?

Don Dodson: Master Power Performance Brakes has a kit to convert your master cylinder which includes the proportioning valve for drum brakes for $189.00 to DUAL RESERVOIR system. The kit part number is MC1302k for 55-66 Chrysler/ Desota/Dodge/Plymouth.

Dan: Yes, you can use a MC for a 67, it will bolt up. just make sure it's a drum brake MC. Also you don't need a proportioning valve with drum brakes.
