This is what I know from looking at these cars for many years and having a massive collection of road tests and original literature :
66 Charger
Engine
|
Air Cleaner Description
|
318 |
deep housing with 'flat' lid, single cylindrical snorkle, flared end, no taper |
361 |
'flat' bottom with deep lid, larger diameter than 318, comes almost to point on top (pieplate won't fit), single cylindrical snorkle, flared end, no taper - (common to most big-block 2bbls in B or C bodies from 66 to 69 - probably earlier) |
383 4bbl |
very small dia. but tall unsilenced open-bottom one (that looks like mid to late 60s slant six) - (this was used on big block 4bbl B-bodies 64 - 66 and maybe earlier) |
426 |
big and chrome ! |
67 Charger
Engine
|
Air Cleaner Description
|
318 |
same as 66 (also LA engine A and B bodies 'till 69) |
383 2bbl |
same as 66 361 |
383 4bbl |
this one I am not sure, I believe Don D has the answer here - dual snorkle version of 361 style, but possibly the little unsilenced one (color: low gloss black) |
440 mag |
same basic body shape as the 361 style, but with a flatter top for the pie plate, tapered oval snorkles with rolled ends - ( just a guess - but this is prob the unit used on Chrysler 440 'TNT' engines 'til 69) |
426 |
chrome dome again |
Other than the 67 383-4bbl I am quite confident of this list - I have never seen an original car or vintage literature that conflicted with it.
