Sway Bars

morganp3205: I got a front end rebuild kit from PST and it came with two triangle shaped sway bar bushings which are nothing like the old ones. When I called PST they said that was all they had for a 66 Charger. I have a 15/16 sway bar with four bushings, two square ones and two D shaped ones. Has anyone else used a PST rebuild kit and did you get the right bushings? Is there another source for them?

Marc: Yes I rebuilt mine in June with PST kit. The triangle rubbers fit my mounts, but I have a 67 Charger. And by the way even though I got the correct ones they are a %&$#@ to put in. What we did was to use a cut off wheel, cut one edge open so we could put the new rubber in and then welded the edge. That worked just great after spending about two hours trying to push them into place.

Gordon: Mopar Performance makes a heavy duty 1 1/8" front sway bar and a 3/4" rear sway bar that are supposed to be a huge improvement over the stock set up. Turns out it squeeks and creaks and knocks something terrible. Top mechanic says it is just a bad design. I am taking it off and going back to stock.

[email protected]: What a pain...I had my own sway bar adventure. I took one off during the car's disassembly and a couple years later when I started reassembling I found the PST bar nothing like what I started with. I think my car is one of the earlier ones and they had a swaybar clamped on the struts-etc. I'm 90% sure it was a factory job. The mounts you find on the lower arms were not there. I found this after I had all the rest of the front done of course. I cut the mounts off my parts car and was getting ready to weld them on when I found the bar wouldn't work anyway since I converted to disk brakes. I had to order the later bar('72 or something I think-shorter) and put the mounts in that location. Anyway it's all better now. I have the first bar(1") and I think all of the poly bushings if someone wants them cheap.
