Fuel Filter

WARNING! DANGER! If you have one of those glass fuel filters with the chrome ends GET IT OFF THE CAR NOW! I know 3 different people who have had engine fires because of those filters. They start leaking without warning. Put on a metal filter or the clear plastic style filter from NAPA (Wix) or Fram if you want to see the gas.

I have the same problem with my Hemi and have never been able to figure out where the gas goes. Although I just noticed while changing my right hand exhaust manifold gasket (as per the instructions in the Service Manual) that the 3/8" hose that connects the fuel line from the tank to the fuel pump is full of small cracks and seeping gas. Not really leaking just damp so that's one of my projects for today.

Today's gas (if you can call it that anymore) evaporates much more quickly. I was talking to an old timer (even older than me lol) friend of mine last year and he said that years ago he could leave a tin can of gas out with a part soaking in it and come back the next day and most of the gas would still be there. He said that if he does that with todays gas half the can will be empty in about 4 hours.

ANYWAY GET RID OF THE GLASS FILTER WITH THE CHROME ENDS. THOSE THINGS SHOULD BE TAKEN OFF THE MARKET.
